Eulogy from Chris Krueger

DJ was my best friend. The words I have to say can never compare to the things Darrell has done for me. Any time he could be there for me, he was. He would do the same for any of you. All of you who knew him personally had the privilege of knowing this.

He had a way with people. It was one of the best things about him. But the way he made this unique was the manner in which he spoke. He knew how to adapt to the situation. When I was upset, he got calm and talked to me calmly. If I was sad or hurt, he got strong and showed me that I can’t give up. He would give it his best shot to give you the advice that would help you the best. And the part that I admired most was he always got right to the point. He never bothered with the small stuff when it came to getting his point across, especially when he was dealing with his friends and getting them out of a slouch.

I believe that this right here, each of us here right now is what is making him smile down on us from heaven. There is nothing that could make him happier, having everyone he knew come and show his or her support. Whether he showed it or not, I could always tell he really enjoyed having help. And what we’re doing right now makes me believe that he can rest peacefully.
