Who was DJ Patterson? He was loved, he was a friend, he was a guardian, and much much more. Who was DJ Patterson… the only people who could have answered that are his closest friends and loved ones.
DJ was one of my greatest friends he earned that friendship by always protecting me a small scrawny kid from West Oakview he hardly even knew me the first time he stood up to my enemies. But he didn’t brag he didn’t make himself seem better in any way he treated me as his equal and that’s what I loved the most about DJ, no matter what the situation he would always be there and not tower above me we were equal. He was a humble servant of god and deserves everything in the world as a friend, a guardian and a loved one.
George Braun was my first “BEST” friend even becoming family and in our friendship he became “BEST” Friends with DJ, I first felt upset that I lost my best friend to a new kid but as I soon found out this new kid was going to be the leader of the biggest change in my life. It was early spring when I first met DJ he came to my front door and asked for me, I had only heard of him never even seen him before in my life so when my mom told me DJ was at the door I was completely confused. I went outside and met him, he was taller and more built than I was, my first thought was he was going to kick my butt but that soon changed when I saw the brightest smile gleaming on his face as he said “Hi, I’m DJ George told me you lived here!” I smiled back and could only respond “Hi, I’m Josh!” He then proceeded to goof around a little bit and before he left he decided to throw some rocks my way from the drive way not meaning any harm but one of those sacred rock flew into the far left window of my porch shattering it to pieces. “RUN!” I screamed… He ran… I took the blame and my mom assured me that she didn’t care as long as I found a new friend. I had been having trouble in school lately and no one really liked me so I was kind of lonely at the time being one of my best friends I presumed was gone for good. But he wasn’t and the three of us soon because inseparable, me always being the weakest of the bunch but that helped me grow my own style. If it weren’t for DJ I would never have turned out like I did so all I can do now is thank him for all he has done and do my best to make a life for myself to honor him, the small child he saved from depression, I promise I’ll make you proud.
